Wednesday, December 12, 2018-Kenya’s film industry is mourning after one of the great talents identified as Jamal Rashid was stabbed to death by his lover.

Jamal is a popular face on TV having acted as the judge in KBC’s Vioja Mahakamani.

Kenyan DAILY POST has learnt that the popular actor was stabbed to death by the lady on Tuesday night after a party in Mlolongo, Machakos County.

It’s reported that after the party, Jamal and his girlfriend went to Arks Hotel along Mombasa Road where they started a fight.

The jilted lady picked a kitchen knife and stabbed the actor.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Further reports indicate that Jamal left his wife and hooked up with the 40 year old lady who is a divorcee and started a relationship that has turned tragic.

Jamal also acted as Baba Junior in a KTN’s series called Junior.

May his soul rest in peace and the lady who cut short his life brought to book.

Wednesday December 12, 2018-Caroline Chepchumba, daughter to Victoria Rotich, a 62-year-old widow, who had allegedly supplied 212, 000 bags to National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB), is admitted in hospital after attempting to ingest poison.

Sources reveal, Chepchumba suffered a mental breakdown after her name featured among those wanted by the police for looting the NCPB in whichinfluential traders allegedly received more than Kshs5 Billion at the expense of genuine farmers.

Speaking yesterday, her mother, Victoria Rotich, lamented that her daughter wanted to ease the pain and humiliation she was going through after her name was put on the public limelight by Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri.

"She wanted to take poison on what she termed as frustrations related to the maize issue. My daughter is currently hospitalized because she was branded as a cartel yet the only thing she did was to supply maize to NCPB," she stated.

“What wrong did my family do to the extent that we are being followed up and down?”

“We did not kill anyone, our actions were only to supply maize to the depots, and we did not import the grains from Mexico," she added.

Wednesday December 12, 2018-Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has endorsed Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula’s brother and Westlands MP, Tim Wanyonyi, to unseat Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

Speaking during a football match at Kabete Technical, Raila promised to give a free ODM ticket to gun for Nairobi gubernatorial seat come 2022 due to his sheer hard work.

"Although I'm here as a football player and not a politician, I want to say our next Nairobi Governor is Tim.”

“He is doing a good job, and deserves the ODM ticket in 2022," stated the NASA leader.

Raila praised Wanyonyi’s development record disclosing that it was the major reason why he attended the match sponsored by him.

In June 2018, Wanyonyi declared interest in gunning for Nairobi Governorship come 2022 and is likely to face off with Sonko and Senator Johnson Sakaja.

Wednesday December 12, 2018-Kenya has been dealt a severe blow after Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed announced the cancellation of implementation of the new syllabus in January 2019.

Speaking yesterday, the CS indicated that the pilot that has currently advanced to grade 3 will be halted to allow consultations with stakeholders.

Amina ordered schools to return to the old 8-4-4 system as Government re-evaluates the new system.

"Those who were to move to Grade Four in the pilot program will instead move to Standard Three but it will not affect their progress," the CS stated.

According to the Education boss, the decision was arrived at after an internal evaluation revealed that the Ministry was not ready to roll out new curriculum.

"We have to make sure that everything is in place, enough teachers are trained… make sure that the books are the right ones," she added.

The pilot programme for the new 2-6-6-3 curriculum system of education was launched in April 2017 by then CS Fred Matiangi.

Wednesday, December 12, 2018- Three people died on the spot on Wednesday morning after the car they were traveling in veered off Mbagathi Way and hit an electric pole.

The car had three female passengers when the driver lost control and hit a man who was jogging, killing him on the spot.

Two of the female occupants died on the spot while the third one was rushed to hospital in serious condition.

Wednesday December 12, 2018-A section of youths in Nyamira County have praised embattled Migori Governor, Okoth Obado, for agreeing to turn over a new leaf and accepting Jesus as his personal saviour.

This is after a photo of Obado reading a Bible surfaced online; a clear indication that he is changed man even after committing atrocities like the murder of his lover, Sharon Otieno, and looting over Sh2 billion meant to help the poor residents of Migori County.

The youths praised Governor Obado for accepting God after his tribulations over the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno a few months ago.

"Obado is walking with the Bible praying to God to forgive his sins.”

“Our leaders should copy what Obado is doing currently after he was released on bond following the murder charges he is facing in court," wrote Evans Nyangaresi.

On his part, Amos Momanyi argued that Obado is seeking refuge in the church following the embarrassment he faced during his arrest.

“Obado is a changed man after suffering in the police cells.”

“He is reading the Bible to comfort himself so that he can continue serving the people of Migori," said Momanyi.

Wednesday, December 12, 2018- President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday led Kenyans in the 55^th Jamhuri Day celebrations wearing the Kenya Army ceremonial outfit, the Red Tunic, as Commander in Chief.

According to State House, Uhuru’s outfit was in line with the trooping of the color led by the 17th Battalion Kenya Rifles.

This was the first time the Head of State had rocked the military regalia during a national day celebration.

However, this trend was set by the founding President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, who is also Uhuru’s father, several decades ago.

On several occasions, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta was photographed in the red and the gold tunic.

Wednesday, December 12, 2018-President Uhuru Kenyatta left Kenyans reading in between the lines after he saluted Former Prime Minister and his handshake partner, Raila Odinga, during Jamhuri Day Celebrations at Nyayo Stadium.

This happened when the President was greeting leaders at the VIP dias.

He started by shaking hands with his Deputy Ruto and went on to pass greetings to other leaders but when he reached where Raila Odinga was standing, he saluted him.

The rare salute shows the respect that President Uhuru Kenyatta has for the Former Prime Minister and this may send Ruto and his allies into panic.

Wednesday, December 12, 2018- K24 news anchor, Betty Kyallo, has opened up for the first time on how she cheated death when she was a teenager.

Taking to Instagram, she narrated how the accident in Nairobi CBD left her scarred and almost dashed her dream of becoming a news anchor.

The scars on her neck and left shoulder haven’t disappeared despite undergoing seven surgeries.

She wrote: “So I wanna tell you a story so yesterday, I met with somebody who asked why I have a scar on my neck. So basically what happened when I was in Form three back in 2005, I think I was 17 years old.

“So I was walking in tao and crossing the road and this matatu comes and hits me, hapo Railways, I go got trapped under the Matatu and it’s still moving.

“The left part of my face got scrapped off by the road, so I was while from the shoulder to the face. So my skin is gone, at 17 year old my dream of becoming a news anchor also gone, because I knew they will not allow you on Air with no skin.

“I stayed in hospital for about 2 month’s coz I had to go through seven surgeries. I was too broken. And apart from the face, I lost four ribs, my jaw got broken, my lungs collapsed, I was in a real bad state.

“So two months later I walked out of Hospital but my skin was still peeled off, for about like four months I was scared on walking on the streets because everybody could look at me and feel sorry for me. So I will go to tao with a Kitambaa covering my face.

“But with time I gained confidence, so one time while at school showering I discovered a dark thing on my face and I realized my skin was growing back,”

Wednesday, December 12, 2018- Popular Danish photographer Andreas Hvid has sparked outrage in Egypt afterphotos of him having sex at the top of the Great Pyramid of Giza emerged on social media.

Egypt's Ministry of Antiquities had issued a statement saying the incident "violates public morality" and requested that an investigation is launched by the Attorney General.

Hvid is a daredevil photographer who specializes in taking photos from daring heights and his portfolio includes a number of nudes taken on rooftops or cranes overlooking cities and landscapes across the world.

From the photos he shared on his website before pulling them down, he can be seen having sex with a woman on top of the Great Pyramid at night with another pyramid in the background.

Job Title: Finance Officer– AgriFin Digital Farmer Program

8. Review transactions and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness and compliance with MC policies

9. Prepare the monthly bank reconciliations

10. Maintain benefits accrual documentation and prepare monthly benefits accrual entries

11. Prepare monthly amortization entries of prepaid accounts

12. Assist in account maintenance and reconciliations as part of month end closeout process

13. Prepare photocopies and scans of vouchers and other supporting documents required for HQ and donor reporting

Reports Directly To: Finance Manager

Works Directly With: AgriFin finance, program and operations staff in Kenya and Zambia; Coordinates work with AgriFin teams in other countries.

Knowledge and Experience:

· Two or more years of bookkeeping, banking or cashiering experience

· A degree in accounting or a relevant business field is desirable.

· Strong computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel

· Accuracy in the processing of cash transactions, mathematical aptitude and attention to details

· Excellent oral and written English skills

Success Factors:

Job Title: Procurement Officer – AgriFin Digital Farmer Program

We are presently looking for a committed and dynamic individual to take up the position of a Procurement Officer, for our AgriFin Digital Farmer Program.

General Position Summary: The Procurement Officer will report directly to the Operations and HR Manager and is responsible for overseeing general aspects of Mercy Corps procurement and logistics operations including procurement, warehousing, asset management and fleet management.

Essential Job Functions:

The Procurement Officer is responsible for functions at the field as follows:

Procurement:

· Daily coordination of MC procurement activities.

· Read and comply with Mercy Corps procurement management policies and procedures. Assist, when required with training staff on these policies.

· Raise and assist staff with creating clear and understandable Purchase Requests and other documentation.

· Collect quotations, bids and proposals from vendors and interact with vendors to explain Mercy Corps formats as per laid down policies and procedures.

· Follow MC policies and procedures in all procurement paperwork including and not limited to raising Purchase Requests, Requests for Quotations, Quotation Analysis, Purchase Orders and Goods Received Notes.

· Proper filling of all procurement documents.

· Ensure all Mercy Corps procurement activities are legal and ethical.

Fleet Management

· General management of the Program vehicle and supervision of the Program Driver.

· Review vehicle log-sheets in accordance with MC policies/regulations

· Organize regular service schedules for the Program vehicle together with the Program Driver.

· Ensure major repairs are done on time.

· Ensure that the vehicle is fitted with a Car Tracking system and renewal of Insurance on time in co-operation with the Program Driver.

Asset Management

· Monitor and implement asset tracking system including use of asset tags, movement of assets, disposal of assets and update asset registry both manually and electronically including proper registration of newly purchased assets. Coordination with Administration and IT to ensure the tracking of assets including those assigned to staff.

Works Directly With: Program and Finance teams.

Knowledge and Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant business field;

· Minimum three years working experience in logistics, supply chain management and/ or international business;

· Must demonstrate understanding of logistics procurement ethics and good management skills with diverse team and large flow of information and activities;

· Ability to work independently and prioritize, show initiative experience in an NGO setting

· Excellent Computer, verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and editing.

· Excellent inter-personal skills;

· Highly pro-active and self-disciplined;

· Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members.

Success Factors:

· The ideal candidate will be conscientious with an excellent sense of judgment.

· S/he will be an excellent communicator, multi-tasker, and able to work in ambiguous situations.
