Tuesday January 8, 2019 - A section of politicians from Nakuru have urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to resign after he abused them on Monday.
Speaking during the launch of Mama Ngina Drive Waterfront Project in Mombasa, Uhuru, who was accompanied by NASA leader, Raila Odinga, termed those who are questioning his development record in Central Kenya as Washenzi (idiots).
Uhuru said all parts of the country should benefit from his leadership and not just Central Kenya because it is his stronghold.
“We want a country where every single citizen is entitled to development regardless of where the leader comes from…Kwa hivyo hawa washenzi waachane na mimi. Na hivyo ndio itakuwa (These fools should leave me alone),”Uhuru said generating fury across the entire Mt Kenya region.
On Tuesday morning, Bahati MP, Kimani Ngunjiri, led thousands of protesters in Nakuru town demanding the resignation of Uhuru for abusing those who put him in office.
The demonstrators wore t-shirts written “Mimi ni mshenzi. Je wewe mwana Kenya?”
In social media, Jubilee Party supporters from Mt Kenya region asked Uhuru to apologise over his remarks which have divided Jubilee Party right in the middle.
