Friday January 11, 2019-Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has castigated the Judiciary, accusing it of being the stumbling block in the fight against corruption.
Speaking yesterday during a public lecture at the University of Nairobi, Raila warned the Chief Justice David Maraga – led Judiciary to stop glorifying corruption and deal with it as it is.
He decried the manner in which the courts were letting corruption suspects off the hook with very small bail, saying such will not help eradicate the vice.
The former PM further discouraged the Judiciary from allowing public servants facing corruption charges from being allowed to return to work.
He explained that by doing so, courts were paving the way for them to interfere with the evidence.
President Uhuru Kenyatta had also earlier accused Maraga and his officers of colluding with corruption suspects to defeat justice by letting the off the hook easily.
Friday, January 11, 2019-Armed thugs who stormed an Mpesa shop in Nairobi’s Huruma Estate were caught on CCTV executing the evil mission.
The young boys, who seem to be in their early twenties, stormed the Mpesa shop armed with a pistol and ordered the customers who were in there to stay still.
An elderly woman who was at the mpesa shop waiting for her turn to be served nearly got a heart attack as she took cover under a chair.
The thugs broke into the mpesa shop and stole money which they put in a paper bag and then vanished after firing in the air.
Friday January 11, 2019-Ford-Kenya Party Leader, Moses Wetang’ula, has announced that he would be gunning for the Presidency come 2022.
Speaking to yesterday, Wetang’ula said he would go it alone now that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has joined Jubilee which he hates with a passion.
He noted that hehad been endorsed by his party to vie for the Presidency in 2022 and that he had already started preparations for the contest.
According to Wetang’ula, members of his party have endorsed him and that their decision will be ratified at a National Delegates Council next month.
He expressed confidence of beating everyone in the contest, including Deputy President William Ruto and Raila, to become the 5th President of Kenya come 2022.
“I want to mobilise resources towards this quest and I am confident of clinching the seat.”
“For now, however, I want to spend the remaining two years serving the people before the full contest in 2022,” said Wetang’ula.
Friday January 11, 2019-Leaders from Murang’a County have moved to assure the country that President Uhuru Kenyatta is still the de facto leader of Mt. Kenya.
Led by Governor Mwangi Wa Iria, MPs Nduati Ngugi (Gatanga), Peter Kimari (Mathioya) and Murang'a MCAs, the leaders claimed that some of their colleagues are on a mission to spoil the reputation of the President since their choice for President in 2022-Deputy President William Ruto-may not get automatic support from Uhuru Kenyatta.
The leaders said they will follow Uhuru’s advice regarding the 2022 Presidential candidate and that whoever he tells them to support they will support without question.
"We know that some quarters are plotting to dilute the kingship of the President in Mt. Kenya region but let them be reminded that the region will remain under him even after the expiry of his term," said Mr. Kimari.
They told the DP and his lieutenants to give them a break because come 2022, they will have their preferred Presidential candidate courtesy of Uhuru’s advice.

Friday January 11, 2019-Former Njoro MP, Joseph Kiuna, has waded into the murky debate about Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 Presidential ambitions, warning Kalenjins not to dare Kikuyus.
In a statement yesterday, Kiuna Kalenjins that they will deal with them ruthlessly if they continue pushing them to support Ruto’s 2022 bid.
He said the Kikuyu community was not ready to forgive again like it did after the 2007/2008 post election violence witnessed across Kenya following former president Mwai Kibaki's win.
He told off the Kalenjin community, saying the community will not bow to threats of violence.
"I want to warn you that everything has an end and we have been pushed to the wall for reasons I don’t Know.”
“But they should know if this is the kind of game they want us to play, we know how to play it better than them," he said.
"In 2007/2008 we forgave you but we have not forgotten.”
“You can't slaughter our people, destroy our properties then come here to threaten us to vote for you in 2022.”
“You will pay the life of our people before telling us of political debts," he added.

Friday January 11, 2019 - Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, has said he is consulting with National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga, before naming his deputy.
Last year, Sonko’s deputy, Polycarp Igathe, resigned and the seat has been vacant for almost a year.
Addressing a Press Conference in Kilifi on Friday, Sonko said he is consulting with NASA on the best candidate to deputise him.
Sonko said that he already had a nominee in mind, without mentioning the name, and was set to unveil the individual until a letter from NASA requesting him to defer the exercise to give their nominee a chance to be considered reached him.
“I was ready with a nominee but I received a letter from NASA requesting me to consider their nominee, Rahab Wangui, for the DG position.”
“Therefore, I shall not be forwarding the name in the spirit of handshake to allow for more consultation,” Sonko said.
However, Sonko has maintained that his deputy will be a woman.
