Tuesday, November 18, 2014-The Manchester United and England captain has revealed that he once sneaked into Anfield to cheer on Arsenal.

The 29-year has many reasons to dislike Liverpool with his Everton roots, but on this occasion, he was rooting for the Gunners because his friend, Francis Jeffers was playing for the North London club.

Rooney told The Mirror: "I've done it with Everton, at Ibrox and at Anfield, watching Liverpool vs Arsenal (as an away fan), when Franny Jeffers was there.

When asked whether it was difficult to get in and out unnoticed, he said:  "Not really. I didn't go in disguise."

Jeffers was an unused substitute in the 2-2 draw where Liverpool hit-man Emile Heskey grabbed a late equaliser for the hosts.

Rooney will lead the Three Lions in tonight’s high profile friendly against Scotland.

Tuesday, November 18, 2014-Manchester United have announced a £9.8m (9.9%) drop in revenue compared to the first quarter of the last financial year.

This has been attributed to the club’s lack of Champions League football at Old Trafford this season.

The Red Devils broadcasting revenue is down 13% to £16.8m, while their match-day revenue has dropped 21.8% to £15.1m.

United have also seen their commercial revenue dented, with figures down 5.2% to £56.8m.

Meanwhile, the club's gross debt is up to £362.2m from £361m.

United project their year-end revenue to be around £40m lower than last year's figure of £433m.

An official statement signed by chief executive Ed Woodward read:

"While we recognize that the 2014-15 fiscal year financial results will reflect our absence from the Champions League, we signed the largest kit sponsorship deal in the history of sport in the first quarter and are excited to focus our efforts on the meaningful growth opportunities in sponsorship, digital media and retail and merchandising."

United resume their Premier League campaign on Saturday with a tricky trip to North London to face Arsenal.

RAILA’s wife IDA gives her opinion on women being STR!PP3D N()K3D for indecent dressing.

Tuesday, 18 November 2014 - Raila Odinga’s wife, Ida, has added her voice on the recent cases of ladies being str!pp3d nak3d in the city for indecent dressing.

While she condemns the heinous acts by the shameless men, Ida notes that it’s high time ladies invested more on their education and other important things other than spending most of their time shopping for skimpy dresses to flaunt their flesh.

Here is what she had to say.

An open letter of concern

I spent this past week keenly monitoring social media and everyday I became increasingly worried at the rhetoric being spewed under the #mydressmychoice hashtag. I’m surprised that in 2014 in a country, albeit conservative, that has made tremendous strides in the equity of genders can still be fighting archaic, primitive thinkers.

As shocking as the public disrobing of those young women were, even more disturbing were the proponents who sat behind their social media devices and came to the conclusion that the solution to public indecency should be to completely expose the victims intimate parts and shame her to not only never wear those clothes that they felt were indecent but to perhaps never leave the house again without a pistol or a bodyguard lest she be accosted. Where is the logic in curing public indecency by publicly shaming the victim? I condemn to the highest degree what happened to those women. It was not only wrong but outright violence against women and every day that goes by that the perpetrators are not brought to book is a slap in the face of gender equity that we fought so hard to attain. Where were the security apparatus? I would expect a more fitting reaction to someone scantily dressed would be, “sister, it is not safe for you to be dressed like that, there are animals that can hurt you, here’s my jacket, cover up”

To paraphrase Chimamanda Ngozi-Adichie, young girls are taught to be ashamed of their bodies, they are taught to cover up and stifle their individuality. They are taught that their appearance is not theirs to be in control of or even be proud of but much rather they must conform to societies predestined ideals of what a young woman must look like. Never have I heard of a young man being publicly undressed because his tight, sagging trousers, his Mohawk or his tattoos offended another man or woman.

With that being said, I come from the school of thought that as a woman, particularly a young woman, your appearance will always be the first thing you are judged by and that may be to your advantage or not.

I talk to my daughters and many women around this world and I know young women are under an enormous amount of pressure to look “beautiful” as society determines it and sometimes try too hard to fit in but we also must not forget our cultural values. We must not try too hard to emulate western cultural standards and abandon our own. We must teach our young girls that they should want to be judged by what’s in-between their ears and not which famous designer they are wearing. Young women wear low cut tops and short skirts thinking this will earn them admiration and although it may, it is the wrong type of admiration. It is sexual admiration, which my dear daughters, will go as fast as it comes. Soon you will learn that there will always be someone younger, fitter, prettier and that’s the tragedy of beauty, it depreciates. Invest in education, because even if there is someone smarter than you, a simple book can tip the scale in your favour.

Finally,

It has always been my sentiment that a woman’s dress is as much her choice as what she eats for breakfast. Some women prefer long skirts, tight tops, high heels and enjoy a cup of uji (porridge) in the morning, while others, like myself, enjoy our eggs sunny side up. If you don’t like it, remember, we don’t have to dine together.

Tuesday, November 18, 2014 - Butula residents ambushed a polygamous man yesterday in his house in the act of defiling a 7 year old girl.

The fool had sweets in his pockets which locals suspect he used to lure the minor into his house.

According the young girl’s parents, it is not the first time the man was defiling their daughter because not long ago, they noticed that she was withdrawn and very sad. She walked with difficulties and when asked, she was shy to speak obviously because of some sort of threats.

In the latest incident, the man took her to his house to enjoy her warmth but a neighbour who saw them rushed to her mother and informed her of what was happening.

Accompanied by other neighbours, they caught the heavily built man working on the class one pupil and arrested him. The girl could not walk and was bleeding from her private parts. She is admitted at the Busia County Referral hospital.

Trouble in Machakos as ALFRED MUTUA catches KIALA with his hand in the money basket

Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala was today grilled by CID and fingerprinted over theft of a water irrigation system valued at about Kshs.20 million meant for Wananchi.

It is alleged that Kiala connived and directed pipes and an irrigation system worth Kshs.13 million shillings from public project at Kibaoni, Mwala to his personal home in Masinga Sub-County. It is also alleged that Kiala did the same for an irrigation project at Kondo in Kithimani, Yatta Constituency worth about Ksh.10 million.

He enriched himself using County resources by directing that his personal farm be installed with irrigation systems using the elaborate public program meant to alleviate hunger in Mwala and Yatta.

This, it is alleged, is one of the many corrupt and illegal activities undertaken by Kiala that saw him fall out with Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred N. Mutua, who has repeatedly said all County resources are for Wananchi benefit only not to widen stomachs of politicians.

Mr. Kiala has been a staunch support and defender of Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama who is currently being prosecuted for stealing 1 billion shillings from Poor Malili Ranch owners, leading to the stalling of Konza Techno City.

The Police are acting on a tip off from Wananchi and the contractor, one Osilingi Contractors locally operated by a Mr. Julius Mutua Kilungu who unsuccessfully vied for Mwala Constituency MP.

Tuesday November 18, 2014 - Renowned political analyst, Mutahi Ngunyi, has given his take on the ongoing debate on the stripping of a young woman in Nairobi, one week ago.

He said in Banana Republic’s like Somalia, Afghanistan and Pakistan, such criminals are “shot and killed” because there no human rights for such people since they are not humans.

This is what Mutahi Ngunyi said….

“Stripping a woman is not WRONG. IT IS CRIMINAL. In banana republics such PERVERTS get shot! No human rights for them. They are not humans!

Mutahi has joined Deputy President, William Ruto, and a number of women MPs who have condemned the act terming it as “primitive and barbaric”
