Wicked mother ABANDONED BABY boy in bush (LOOK)

Wonders as the saying goes shall never cease. It is very amazing to hear cases of child abandonment especially when one considers the fact that children are precious gifts from God.

A baby boy who appears to be less than 24 hours old was found abandoned in a desertedpath surrounded by shrubs in Ikorodu area of Lagos state recently.

The innocent child was welcomed to the world in this most wicked manner by an unknown mother or parents. The baby boy who was neatly wrapped was found in a bush at the early hours of Monday November 26, 2012, along Ikorodu -Itokin road, close to the popular Lucky Fibre bus-stop, Ikorodu.

According to residents, the baby was found at about 7am that fateful day by passers-by who were alerted by the cries of the baby.

Sympathisers quickly rushed to the scene and saw the baby crying. There was no written note or inscription left by the run-away mother. According to an eye witness, the good Samaritans were afraid to carry the innocent crying baby but on the orders of the chairman of the Community Development Authority, CDA, the innocent baby was immediately taken to the nearest police station.

Saturday Vanguard learnt that the child was immediately taken to Shagamu road Police Division, Ikorodu and then to an orphanage. The D.P.O Shagamu Road Police Division, SP Benard Ediagboya, told Saturday Vanguard and anyone who crave any information about the abandoned baby should call the Lagos State Police Public Relations officer(PPRO), adding that investigation had begun on the matter.

Why are LADIES in Kenya rushing to be MOTHERS

$
0
0

It is like getting pregnant is the most fashionable thing in town. Two years after campus, just about every other female friend I had is either paged, a mother or married. I mean, we are certainly not younger and for women, the mid-20s is a ripe time for marriage, but why the hurry? I am rather beset by the state of affairs in town.

I must state from the get go that I have nothing against a woman having her child or even getting married. If anything I respect a woman who opts to keep the child.

Abortion is just as common. My statisticians insist that three out five women have aborted. Still their choice. May be not. For ours is a prejudiced society. Getting a child out of wedlock is still perceived as immoral and a sure sign of irresponsible and unprotected sex.

But in this case, I am little perturbed by the urgency of my year mates in campus  regarding motherhood and marriage. Back in campus a dozen chicks did get themselves paged and they stoically lived with it amid our prying eyes, gossipy mouths and judgmental minds. Last week I met one such who was attending her graduation, obviously postponed due to the pregnancy she incurred along the way while in campus.

With her was her little pretty little daughter whom she proudly introduced to me. I was happy. Honestly, I felt a tinge of jealousy.

And since we left campus, it seems the rest moved into the bandwagon and they are now mothers. The men are still trying to find their feet in this unforgiving town. Marriage is a distant idea to them.

But for women, it is understandable that 24-27 is a good time to get married, especially if they are marrying up (read  good money or even an older sober individual).

If one gets to 28-34, it becomes a tricky affair, given that the baggage increases, the skepticism sets in and cynicism becomes the currency with which they transact in relationships and love matters.

But if I can confess, there is something uncomfortable when you bump into one of the prettier year mates heavy. If she was one of your Crushes, it crashes you completely. Especially if you still had hopes, however forlorn.

The beauty is gone. The skin too dry and the flesh on the cheek bones completely gone. Somebody forbid. I was shell-shocked. She never looked the type who could get herself up in the daff. I was heartbroken.

If you saw her, the word mother didn’t cross your mind. Dutiful mistress, probably. Material girl, obviously. Gold-digger, little bit. But Mother never did cross my mind. How mistaken could I be?

There is nothing wrong in getting pregnant. It is their choice and desire. But when it is someone you know, there is something personal about it. There is an irresponsible jealousy that creeps up on you.

You suddenly picture her nude getting pregnant. You hate it, if you are not the man giving it. Pardon my crudeness, but it happens and at least 99% of functional straight men feel it. There is nothing you can do about it. It comes up, you accept it and life goes on.

I really can’t get their haste. I mean I hate seeing my colleagues from campus aging that fast. And motherhood has a way of adding one or two years onto you and that inevitable fat. They make me feel so late into this fatherhood party. A couple of my male peers are already fathers and I missed the opportunity a while back.

In my community, if something happened to me-God forbid-I will never be remembered for I cannot be named any child within the family or elsewhere for that matter. That is motivational enough.

I think my female campus colleagues have challenged me and have jolted me into action. All I can say, being a baby mother ain’t bad per se, but they should get the men to show up for their responsibilities. Those kids will need fathers. That independence nonsense won’t help the child.

All in all, sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. For now, I don’t want to see one more expectant chick from the lot.

That will sure drive me nuts. Some must remain around long enough. Who knows, they might be a sudden change of heart and for us to walk them down the aisle.

Beyonce should reconsider $50m PepsiCo Deal

Following her multi-million dollar deal with Pepsi announced some few weeks ago, a group known as the Center for Science in the Public Interest, has called on new face of Pepsi, Beyonce,  to reconsider her endorsement of the soft drink giants because they contribute to obesity and other health related problems in children and adults.

This plea was contained in an open letter by the director of the CSPI to Beyonce. It reads:

Beyonce, you have  a unique position in the cultural life of this country and are an inspiring role model for millions of young people.

Your image is one of success, health, talent, fitness, and glamour. But by lending your name and image to PepsiCo, you are associating those positive attributes with a product that is quite literally sickening Americans.

I imagine that it must be hard for anyone to turn away $50 million. But this endorsement deal strikes me as particularly inappropriate, considering your popularity with America’s young people and the extent to which Pepsi and other sugary drinks promote disease.

The New York Times attributed to you a statement that this endorsement agreement allows you “to work with a lifestyle brand with no compromise and without sacrificing [your] creativity.” It seems to me that this deal is actually an enormous comprise. In fact, I would characterize this as an even bigger compromise than your accepting $2 million to perform at the 2009 New Year’s Eve bash thrown by Hannibal Gaddafi, the famously violent son of the now-deceased Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.

You realized that that arrangement was in error and wisely donated those proceeds to charity, I respectfully urge you to reconsider your arrangement with PepsiCo. If you move ahead with your promotional activities, you may wish to consider donating your proceeds to a hospital, diabetes organization or another reputable charity involved in the prevention or treatment of soda-related diseases.

A mild drama played out yesterday at the diplomatic car par of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos as no fewer than 12 exotic cars were damaged when hot air from a wide-body cargo aircraft blew off the roof of a building at the E-wing of the terminal, which in turn fell on the vehicles.

The incident which reportedly occurred at about 7.39p.m threw the entire terminal into a state of panic and confusion as some drivers and other personnel fled the area in fear. A staffer of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) who was on duty at the terminal said there was a bang at the diplomatic car park at the time the roof fell on the cars.

The source further said about two people sustained minor injuries, while the debris of shattered windscreens littered the floor. “We heard a loud bang and everyone initially fled. Later, some security personnel stormed the place. Thank God no life was lost. It is shocking. This sort of thing has never happened before,” he said.

While confirming the incident, Yakubu Dati, the Spokesman of FAAN said that “there was a minor incident at the MMIA.

“But there is no such thing that an airplane ran into cars. I am still trying to get the real details but I think it has to do with the wind from the aircraft that blew off the roof. I’m still trying to get the real details but I think it has to do with the wind from the aircraft that blew off the roof which later hit some cars,” he noted.

Manager, housemaid, KILL BOSS and take over business

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a manager and a housemaid for killing their boss, Alhaja Sikirat Eko, in Omole Phase 1, Lagos State.

Eko was said to be running a restaurant and bar in her compound, where she lived alone with the maid.

According to the police authorities, the suspects allegedly killed Eko at her home located on 5, Babatunde Ladega Street and kept her corpse within the premises.

The suspects were said to have continued to run the restaurant, giving neighbours and customers the impression that the deceased had travelled.

The two were said to have run out of luck when relatives of the deceased came on a visit. When the suspects could not provide a satisfactory answer, the matter was said to have been reported at Area G Command, in Ogba.

A police source who preferred to remain anonymous, told our correspondent that the manager threw Eko into a well inside the compound along with a generator.

The manager was said to have taken her phone which he used in impersonating her.

“The manager was using the deceased’s phone and assumed her identity. Sometimes, he would send text messages with her phone, telling people that all was well”, he said.

It was learnt that when the house was thoroughly searched, Eko’s corpse was found in a decomposing state.

A family friend, who preferred to remain anonymous, said, “Mummy (Eko) has just one child and she lives in the United Kingdom. When she could not get her mother on the telephone, she called relatives to help her find out what was wrong.

“When the relatives got there, the manager told them that she had travelled. The relatives became suspicious because the house was left open and the manager behaved as if he was the owner of the house. The relatives then reported the matter to the police.”

Our correspondent, who visited the area on Thursday, observed that the gate of the premises was locked.

A security guard in the area said Eko hadn’t been seen by neighbours in over two months.

The security guard described the deceased as a very nice but strict woman.

He said, “The last time we saw madam (Eko) was during Sallah. When we asked the housemaid her whereabouts, she said she had travelled to Abuja. I became suspicious because her vehicle was still parked outside the compound.

“It wasn’t until Saturday when policemen stormed the area that we knew what had happened. Policemen arrested about five of us, thinking that we were among but fortunately, the manager and the maid confessed.

“The incident is very sad because madam (Eko) was a very nice person. There was one time that my motorcycle was seized. She was the one that urged the police to give it back to me.”

When contacted on the telephone, the spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

Braide said the manager was the one who planned the killing. She added that the two would be paraded before journalists on Friday .

“The two suspects have confessed to the crime and they will be paraded before journalists on Friday,” she said.

“I’m still a MAN”: - Mike Tyson denies S*X Change Spoof

Former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world “Iron” Mike Tyson has issued a statement via an African website denying stories claiming he has had a sex change after undergoing a successful 16-hour operation.

The bizarre story stems from a spoof news item from a British satirical website, which hoodwinked a number of online publications in Africa.

Some quotes attributed to Tyson in the story stated: “Some people might think it strange that I’m now a woman.

“But even at the height of my career, when pound for pound I was regarded as the best fighter in the world, I never lost touch with my feminine side and knew that one day I would grow breasts and have a vagina.”

However, Tyson has since been quoted as saying: “I am still a man and I have always been fully in touch with my masculinity and have no intention of becoming a woman.

“The claims are not only untrue but unbelievably stupid. I was at the Pacquiao-Marquez fight on Saturday and any reasonable person could tell I was looking like a man.”

I have 3 WIVES and 20 GIRLFRIENDS - 86 year old musician

86-year-old musician Fatai Rolling Dollar who rose to fame after his "won kere si number wa" track in a recent interview talks about his family and marriage.

What was your childhood like?

I was very rascally. Oh yes, when I was growing up, I was an original rascal.

And women loved you then?

Yes, they loved me because of my job. You know women love musicians. Apart from that, I was very handsome when I was much younger. I was light-skinned.

Tell us about your love life?

I’m admired by lots of women because I’m strong.

Where is the source of your strength?

God almighty is the source of my strength. I don’t smoke weed, I don’t take medicine but Ismoke cigarette (he says, puffing hard on his cigarette). My strength is from God and can you imagine that today, all over the world, I’m the oldest musician that is still playing on the stage?

Why are you this strong even in your old age?

You know, there is something somebody should not take when he becomes old. I don’t take meat, for instance. I’m off beer as well. But my major problem is women (he paused for a while, gazing up at the writer).

But you said you admire women a lot, how are they then your major problem?

I still say it that women are my major problem. I love them so much. You don’t blame me for that; after all, my mother is a woman and I loved her so much and she loved me.

So, women are problems to me, especially when I see the beautiful ones. I admire them a lot and that admiration is from the bottom of my heart. Do you know I have a daughter of two years from my third wife?

That goes to show how much I love women. Look at me, at my age, I’m stile agile and I’m still producing (giggles).

Are you romantic?

Yes I am, don’t I look it? At 86, I’m still very romantic. If I meet a woman who is not romantic, I would teach her to be romantic. I will teach the person the A, B, C of romance. lol.

How many wives do you have?

I have two black women and one white woman. You know I travel a lot, so I met my white wife abroad and I married her.

Do you have a girlfriend now?

Yes, I have. I have up to 20.

Twenty? How are you able to be with all of them?

No, there is no sex in the relationship. We just stay together and I advise them. They bring goodies to me. You know women have power to bring good things. They have the power to open good doors of success. That is why we can’t do without them.

DAVID MAKALI (Citizen TV’s Cheche and Sunday Live PANELIST) – Did you know this about HIM?

$
0
0

Citizen TV’s Cheche is one of the leading political talk shows in Kenya. Usually in the hot seat are politicians and people similarly connected with state affairs.

One of the three panelists is Media Institute director, David Makali, who also appears on Sunday Live on the same station as a political analyst.

“Citizen TV were looking for credible people who can hold politicians to account,” David Makali, 42, says.

“All my years as a journalist, I have never been bribed to publish or not to publish a story by anyone. I can stand on the tallest building in the city and say that I am clean. That enables me to question, engage and face off with anybody without fear or reservations.

I thoroughly enjoy my work on Cheche and Sunday Live because they are useful to the country.

"Politicians don’t want to come on Cheche. If you have nothing to hide and can explain yourself, you should be able to face the public.

"I represent the public there and will raise anything that I think is in the interest of the public.”

David, who also has a column in the Star newspaper, studied political science at Moi University and journalism at the University of Nairobi. In 2001, he earned his master’s in journalism at Columbia University.

“Journalism is a career that you must have passion for. It’s not just about earning your sustenance. I studied political science and literature to pursue my ideals: a quest for justice and equality and change. They have been my driving forces in my life and career.”

David’s career in journalism spans over 20 years. He has worked for The People, Nairobi Law Monthly and The Standard Newspaper. In 2005, he worked as communications manager and director of campaign for the Orange team that opposed the 2005 draft constitution.

Throughout his career, he has been persecuted for printing the truth, but the worst moment was in 1999, when he was abducted and brutally assaulted.

“I had published a 14-page expose on drug trafficking in Kenya on Expression Today. It had all the names of the drug traffickers and their dealings. I was grabbed in the streets by about eight men, shoved into a van and driven off to Karura forest, where they beat me up.

"I was convinced that they were going to kill me. Then one of them told the others to let me go. I didn’t know if they were going to shoot me in the back but true enough, they drove away. Nothing was ever done.

"Even though I still see those men today, I had forgiven them long time ago.”

Although he says there’s been pressure on him to venture into politics, he has no plans of doing so.

On the current political scene, Makali says there’s a good crop of female presidential candidates, but he is pessimistic about a woman presidency just yet – “there are too many forces against them”. As for a youth leadership:

“The youth are not reliable and will not be a denning factor in the forthcoming elections. I don’t think they can cause much change even if they took office.”
Who, then, will save Kenya?

“A leader who is focused and strong-willed,” he says. “The problem is people have loyalties of tribe and region and that blinds their judgement. That is the problem: the best candidate may not be able to win because of these factors.”

As for him, David says, he will be true to what he believes. “In my life, I am very clear on what is right and wrong. There is no grey area. I try to inspire people by living up to what I preach. I get calls and e-mails from people commenting on what I do and that encourages me to go on.”

He is married with “very many children,” adding “In Africa, is it right to say the number of children you have?” he jokes.

He loves music and is the Director at Sound Africa, a record company.

MEN ONLY: The sad reality of LOVE and AGE.

$

I have never fallen in love. OK, maybe once. She was almost three years younger than me. She had the graceful height of a model. She had the facial beauty of a future academician or some technocrat/ bureaucrat in an institution.

You know the women with good looks that just command some respect? She carried herself in some air of aristocracy and everyone warned that we were off to bad start, given that I am a ‘village’ boy.

But she ran over me and killed whatever little self-esteem that I had left. Given that I am an unpaid consultant in my circle of friends in matters relationships, I was forced to receive my own medicine.

It was laughable that a girl so young could confuse a boy so old within such a short a time. I was royally embarrassed when she abandoned me, choosing instead to friend-zone me, just like that. ‘It will be OK that way, by me’ she said. And with that she strategically withdrew herself and disappeared to God knows where. Hii Nairobi, mambo tumejionea.

That is the closest I have ever come to love. I was young and some of these things are better off experienced when you are younger, failure to which, the older you grow, the more cynical you become.

If a man, you start regarding women as opportunists and evil people and with that you develop a very unhealthy relationship with them. If a woman, you start believing that men are unchanging and unchangeable monster who will never zip up, or mature up. Either way, we get into certain comfort zones that not even the icy July cold can get us out of.

I am now in that age where my material possessions should speak for me. If I want to get a ‘quality’ lay I must show the woman what I got. You see, in the early 20s, your knowledge of cars and electronics can impress a woman and depict you as ambitious.

In the mid-20s, women ought to see that  I-Pad or laptop as the hallmark of ambition or being loaded. Past that, they start demanding that you must own tangible stuff, least of all a good crib.

A good crib must be in a good neighbourhood, but that is forgivable if it is in a crowded environment like Umoja or Donholm.

What is inside matters more. You must have some good Plasma TV, good carpet, a well-furnished kitchen (a refrigerator is a bigger turn on, take it from me) a good bed with the high density mattress and most importantly a clean, comfy toilet.

Furnish your damn crib! Want to get laid! Nothing cuts the chase like a well-furnished house. That good carpet, a good screen, home theatre with a good movie stock. Whether it is a bed-sitter or a one bedroom, women have a way of envisioning a blissful future together if the house looks prospective. So, it is no brainer: want them ladies in fanciful suits and who speak in English? Get your house in order, literary. Start with those long imposing curtains. Whatever about women and curtains?

In the likely event that you past 25 and you don’t own this, it means that there are women who are out of your league, even if they are your colleagues in office and earn Ksh 20,000 and they don’t necessarily stay in a more decent neighborhood than you. It means you must make do with ‘loser’ ladies who have accepted their fate just like you.

Just like when you join Form 1, you decide your life in the 20s; 25-30 is the ultimate life’s game changer.

That is when the map for the rest of life is drawn by those around you, nature or even by yourself.

Thursday, December 20, 2012 - A 28 year old man was charged in Thika for defiling a 13 year old girl. The man pleaded not guilty to the charges of defiling and indecently touching the minor.

The court heard that on December 8th at Witeithie estate in Juja, Joel Mutua lured the girl to his house where he locked her up for hours. According to the girl’s statement the man touched her private parts before he defiled her for several hours.

He later released her before dark and she reported the ordeal to her mother who reported the incident to the area chief. Mutua was later arrested by police at his house.

The prosecution chief inspector Josephine Wambua requested the court to hold him in custody until his next hearing as he had previously attempted running away from the police when he was being arrested.

His case will be heard on February.
