Friday March 13, 2015 - Fifteen western Kenya MPs told the police on Friday to act on those criminals who are threatening embattled Public Accounts Committee chairman, Ababu Namwamba.
Speaking during a press briefing after Namwamba claimed his life is in danger on Thursday, the MPs led by Tongaren MP, Dr Eseli Simiyu, said the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) should investigate those claims and arrest the culprits.
He said Namwamba is being threatened by either the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials or Office of the President officials ,who are implicated in scandals under investigation by the PAC.
Eseli demanded that the Government provides Namwamba with enough security because he had indicated that he fears for his life.
“Ababu has said his life is in danger. It is upon the Government and the Speaker to ensure Namwamba is accorded maximum security,” Eseli said.
“Touch him and Kenya burns like hell,” Eseli added.
On Thursday, Namwamba told the Powers and Privileges Committee that his life is in danger for exposing the rot at IEBC, the Judiciary, the Office of the President and at Deputy President Office (Hustler’s jet scandal).
