Wednesday, December 12th, 2012 - Sam Nyamweya the Federation of Kenyan Football chairman has confirmed that James Nandwa and Ken Odhiambo will guide the national football team Harambee Stars for the CHAN qualifier match against Burundi that is slated for Sunday, December 16 at Bujumbura.

This comes after head coach Henri Michel went missing from the team’s training camp in Kasarani with no official communication.

Nandwa was appointed as the Frenchman’s Assistant following his exploits at the just concluded CECAFA challenge cup in Uganda where he led a second string Kenyan side to the finals where they narrowly lost 2-1 to hosts Uganda.

Nandwa has also recalled some of his stand out players during the CECAFA Challenge Cup to bolster his charges including Paul Were, Edwin Lavatsa, Duncan Ochieng, David Ochieng and Abdallah Juma.

"Nandwa performed well during the just concluded Cecafa competition and the fact that he has adopted some players from the team that was in Uganda to the team training in Kasarani gives him a formidable squad.

“He has shown he can deliver,” Nyamweya was quoted saying.

Nyamweya however remained coy when asked about the whereabouts of the French tactician who pockets over Ksh 1m a month but has absconded his duties.

"Henri Michel is around and will now be concentrating on World Cup qualifiers. His experience will come in handy as we seek to make history by qualifying for Brazil 2014"
