Wednesday, the 30th of January 2013 - Jubilee alliance flag bearer Uhuru Kenyatta today become the fifth presidential candidate to be cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Uhuru, accompanied by his running mate William Ruto, presented their nomination papers and other credentials to the Chairman of the IEBC Issack Hassan at the KICC a few minutes ago.

The IEBC’s decision to accept the Uhuru and Ruto’s bid for the highest offices in the land adds an interesting dimension to the ‘integrity case’ currently against them at the High Court.

The petitioners in the case want Jubilee alliance pair barred from the March polls because of the charges of crimes against humanity currently against them at the ICC.

After getting the IEBC’s clearance, Uhuru told the journalist at KICC that he and Ruto intend to cooperate with the ICC even if they win the election;

“We have always cooperated with the ICC for our cases, and I assure you we will continue to cooperate,” he said.

Uhuru also refuted claims that he is using public resources to campaign;

“I have been out of office for long, I don't have access to state resources.”
