Saturday, the 2nd of February 2013 - Narc Kenya's Martha Karua today continued her assault on her fellow candidates in the race to succeed President Mwai Kibaki at State House. Karua, who is among the eight presidential candidates cleared by the IEBC earlier this week, told supporters at a rally in Trans Nzoia County that they should scrutinize her rivals more especially those who are setting themselves out as reformers;
Karua also told the rally at Kiminini market that the fact that her running mate Augustine Lotodo comes from a marginalised community shows that, unlike her rivals, she is not interested in tribal mathematics;
“I made my running mate choice based on integrity, qualification and a person from the marginalised communities unlike my colleagues who decided to choose their running mates from purported vote rich communities,” she said.
The immediate former MP for Gichugu again called on the Jubilee duo of Uhuru Kenyatta and his running mate William Ruto to abandon their hopes for State House until they clear their names at The Hague.
Karua also pledged that her Narc Kenya party would carry out effective reforms to end the country’s self –defeating relationship with corruption and other ills;
"We will wipe out corruption to ensure all the funds that are lost through corruption will finance the provision of basic services like education, security and healthcare," Ms Karua said.
"I want to assure you that my regime will not condone impunity so that we ensure the country’s treasure is well guarded."
Lotodo for his part echoed Karua’s sentiments saying the party was not interested in playing the politics of tribe;
“Our agenda is not to play divisive politics to our benefit but we are rather focused on uniting the country for the sake of spurring economic development,” he said.
