Sunday February 3, 2013 - In what can be termed as politics of hypocrisy, former Attorney General Amos Wako has decried the slow pace of police reforms, saying they were a key agenda after the 2007 bungled election.

Wako, who is among the longest serving Attorney Generals in the country’s history, said the trend of police reforms is worrying especially at the time the country is entering into an electioneering period.

“Reforms in the police service have been slow and it is worrying more now that we are entering a critical election time and we do not know who has been appointed to be in charge of administration and regular police,” Wako said.

He said the new constitution attempted to clean politics and shift the focus from personalities to issues affecting Kenyans.

The former AG, who is eyeing the Busia Senate seat on an ODM ticket, was one of the personalities who rejected constitutional and police reforms in the 1990s.
