Friday February 22, 2013 - Youths allied to The National Alliance (TNA) party on Wednesday stoned a caravan of ODM, who were preparing the ground for Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s upcoming tour of Kiambu County.
Addressing the press on Thursday ODM Central Kenya coordinator Peter Kuguru, said they toured Kiambu town, Ndumberi village, Tinganga village, Ikinu town without any problems.
Kuguru ,who is a close ally of the PM ,said it was when they were on their way back at Ndumberi at around 6 pm that they encountered young men who were chanting Uhuru Kenyatta’s name who threw stones at them.
Kuguru’s Range Rover was hit and the back windscreen shattered. He reported the matter to Kiambu Police station where he recorded a statement.
Police promised to use photos taken of the youth throwing stones and other missiles to make arrests.
Kiambu County is perceived to be Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta’s backyard and this may taint his image nationally.
