Friday April 5, 2013 - A form two student in Garissa was last night shot dead by unknown gunmen in an incident that left three other people seriously injured.
The student at the County High School was hit by a stray bullet when he was approaching a Kiosk in Iftin Market where the gang had opened fire after an attack on the shop keeper.
According to an eye witness, the gang had targeted a kiosk owner and shot him in the chest before shooting aimlessly at the passersby. The kiosk owner survived the attack and is nursing gunshot wounds.
This comes only three days after a similar attack on security personnel in the same area that left two police officers dead and two seriously injured.
Speaking after the incident, North Eastern Police boss Charlton Murithi said that the two latest attacks were related and the same gang was behind it.
He said that patrols have been intensified and the criminals will be brought to book.
