Saturday 6th April 2013 - A 25 year old man on Friday appeared before a Nyahururu court charged with defiling a 13 year old girl in Muhindi Trading Centre, Nyandarua County.
Appearing before Resident Magistrate Peter Muholi, Joseph Mwangi was accused of defiling the minor on 31st of March this year as she was going to fetch water.
The court heard that Muholi dragged the minor into the reeds and threatened to kill her if she informed anyone about the ordeal. He raped her and went ahead to insert reeds in her private parts.
The girl dragged herself home where her mother discovered that she was bleeding. She demanded to know why it took her so long to fetch the water and why there were blood stains all over her clothes. She disclosed what had happened.
The mother rushed her to the hospital and reported the matter to the Muhindi police post. With the help of members of the public, the police managed to arrest the suspect.
