Tuesday April 23, 2013 - Igembe South MP Mithika Linturi has found himself in trouble with his clansmen over his greed and clamour for bigger salaries.
Led by its Chairman Paul M’Ethinkia and Secretary General Phares Rutere, Njuri Ncheke Council of Elders have distanced themselves from one of their own over his planned motion to disband the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) that is due to be tabled in parliament today.
Speaking yesterday, M’Enthikia termed Linturi’s move as “shocking display of unwarranted greed”, and that it goes against the Jubilee manifesto which he seriously advocated for.
“Linturi was in the forefront campaigning for Uhuru in Meru region. We are surprised that he is going against the President who has termed Kenya’s wage bill as very high”, he said.
The elders cautioned Linturi against his selfish behavior and urged him to consult with Uhuru to avoid dividing the Jubilee Government on matters of principles.
Linturi’s motion to disband Sarah Serem’s led SRC is widely seen as a revenge mission against the commission for reducing MPs salary from sh851, 000 to sh532, 500.
