Monday April 29, 2013 - President Uhuru Kenyatta has vowed to free Somalia from the terrorist extremists Al Shabaab.

Speaking at State House, Mombasa yesterday after meeting Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohammed, Uhuru noted that a stable Somalia was good for the region’s economic stability and the presence of Al-Shabaab remains the greatest impediment to Somalia’s progress and the region at large.

“All of us in the region and international Community should focus on fighting terrorists to secure Somalia and the regions unity”, Uhuru said.

The Head of State called on IGAD to restore social and economic stability in Somalia, though he challenged Somalia people to lead the way.

On his part, Somalia President Sheikh Mohammed thanked the Kenyan Government for sending its soldiers to fight Al Shabaab saying it was a good gesture of a better neigbour.

He commended the cordial bilateral relationship between Kenya and Somalia and pledged to work closely with Uhuru Government to foster peace and stability in the region.
