Monday, April 29, 2013 - Kenyan midfield powerhouse Victor Wanyama has capped an impressive season by winning the Celtic Young Player of the Year Award at a ceremony held in Glasgow on Sunday night.
The 21-year old has been a stand out act for the Scottish Champions where he helped them to clinch a second successive Scottish Premier League title.
Wanyama was also a key figure in Neil Lennon’s side that reached the round of 16 in the champions League.
Meanwhile, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) chairman Sam Nyamweya has heaped praise on Wanyama and called upon other budding footballers to follow in his footsteps.
"This achievement has placed Kenyan football on the global football map.
Wanyama is a focused and disciplined player and young man who is always ready to learn and the federation has always offered him and other players the necessary support," Nyamweya was quoted as saying.
"I urge other players to emulate Wanyama's character as this seems the sure way of earning success."
