Tuesday, April 30, 2013 - Newly crowned Premier League Champions Manchester United are reportedly planning to test Tottenham Hotspur’s resolve to hang on to play maker Gareth Bale with a staggering £55m bid and any of three players in a player-plus cash deal.The PFA double Player of the Year is widely expected to leave White Hart Lane at the end of the season should they fail to secure Champions League football.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is leading the race for the signature of the 23-year-old who is also a target for Spanish clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Reports indicate that the Red Devils are willing to include Ashley Young, Anderson or Nani as makeweight in what would smash the British transfer record.
If United manage to secure the signature of the Welsh international it will pile pressure on the likes of Nani and Ashley Young following the arrival of another wide player in Crystal Palace youngster Wilfried Zaha.
Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas is keen to keep Bale but if push comes to shove, he will be open to the prospect of signing either Nani or Young as part of the deal.
