Friday November 30, 2018- Deputy President William Ruto has revealed that the Jubilee Government had embarked on another railway project but not the Standard Gauge one.
Speaking at the Nakuru International Investment Conference, Ruto noted that plans were underway to upgrade the meter gauge railway for it to serve the public better.
This, he said, would improve accessibility of various towns in Kenya.
"We are engaged in refurbishing the meter gauge railway through Nakuru to Eldoret to Kitale," Ruto stated.
In addition, the DP said all the railway projects will tie in the fulfilment of the Big Four Agenda, urging towns to position themselves strategically to benefit from them.
"The challenges we face and must overcome are located in the same place as opportunities we must seize to grow our economy, improve our society.”
“The pursuit of a fuller, inclusive economy and a shared prosperity will lift communities and secure wellbeing of generations,” he said.
This comes despite the drumming up of the multi-billion Standard Gauge Railway built by Jubilee whose benefits and profits Kenya is yet to realize.
