Wednesday, January 16, 2019-Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has confirmed that one of the gallant police officers died during the deadly terror attack at Dusit Complex building when he was trying to save innocent lives trapped during the siege.

Speaking to the press on Wednesday night, Boinnet said the death toll has risen to 21 and scores of people who sustained injuries are still admitted in hospital.

The brave officer who sacrificed his life and saved so many people who were trapped in the building has been identified as Japeth.

May the soul of this hero rest in eternal piece.

Wednesday, January 16, 2019- This gallant Kenyan cop has wowed many after he put his life on the line to rescue people during the Riverside attack on Tuesday.

The cowardly terrorists were killed by brave Kenyan forces and by 10 am on Wednesday (Today) President Uhuru declared the situation over.

While it took a combined effort of multi-agency security officers to neutralize the assailants, this police officer by the name Ali Kombo did an amazing job as these photos attest.

Thursday January 17, 2019-Orange Democratic Movement Party Treasurer, Timothy Bosire, has accused Deputy President William Ruto of funding campaigns against him in his Nyamira backyard.

This is after Ruto allegedly paid goons last week, through North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko, to disrupt a press conference organised by ODM leadership.

But speaking on Monday, Bosire, who served as Kitutu Masaba MP in the last Parliament, said enough is enough and told the DP to bring on the fight.

He stated that he does not fear the DP and that he was ready for him going forward.

Besides, he insisted that he continue traversing the entire region and warning people against Ruto’s Presidency.

“He has come to this region several times but none of the projects he launched has kicked off.”

“He’s is a disgrace to us and I will continue questioning projects initiated by the DP in the larger Gusii region,” Bosire said.

"I don't fear him (Ruto).”

“He can continue funding campaigns against me as he has done before but the truth remains he's misleading Gusii leaders through launching of ghost projects.

"We shall traverse the entire region and warn against his Presidency.”

“He has come to this region several times but none of the projects he launched has kicked off.”

“He's is a disgrace to us,” he added.

Thursday January 17,2019-Anti Terror Police Unit (ATPU) and Flying Squad officers are currently camping in Mt Kenya region hunting for three individuals who were involved in the Tuesday‘s Dusit Hotel terrorist attack.

According to a senior ATPU official, detectives have identified that the man who planned the Dusit Hotel attack was living in Ruaka, Kiambu County, with his fiance identified as Violet Kemunto Omwoyo.

The detective said Ali Salim Gichunge, who hails from Meru County, was the ground organizer of the Dusit D2 terrorist attack that claimed lives of 21 people and injuring hundreds.

Eric Kinyanjui from Kiambu County is also among those who planned the deadly attack that shocked the entire nation on Tuesday.

Another man identified as Farouk from Nyeri County is also said to be among those who provided terrorists with map of the hotel’s complex.

The ATPU's operation comes a day after Kenya‘s security officers eliminated the four Al Shabaab terrorists who attacked the hotel.

The four were Somali nationals and they were guided in Kenya by Gichunge, Kinyanjui and Farouk.

Thursday January 17, 2019-Atheist President, Harrison Mumia, has vehemently condemned God over the 14 Riverside Drive attack in which several people lost their lives.

Speaking on Thursday, Mumia advised Kenyans not to pray or depend on God at such a time because He will not provide the much needed comfort and relief for the distressed families, especially those of the dusitD2 attack victims.

"By the way those praying to God to protect Kenyans nini nini (what?). Why didn't God stop the attack at Riverside Mall ? God is not great," he said in a Facebook post.

He told Kenyans to always believe in themselves and stop believing that an invisible God would protect them in times of trouble.

However, Mumia sentiments have irked Kenyans who told him to stop taking advantage of such a disaster as DusitD2 attack to justify his non-belief in the Supreme Deity.

Thursday, January 17, 2019- The death toll from Tuesday’s terror attack in the posh Dusit D2 Hotel and office complex in Nairobi has risen to 21.

“We wish to inform that six other bodies were found at the scene and one police officer succumbed very suddenly to his injuries,” Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet said.

On the same breath, Boinnet confirmed that two people had been arrested in connection to the attack.

“They are in police custody and we have a reason to believe that they facilitated the attack.

“They are assisting the police with investigations,”

Among those who lost their lives, 16 are Kenyans, one Briton, one American, while the nationality of the remaining three is not yet unknown.

While addressing the nation on Wednesday morning after all the terrorists were killed, President Uhuru revealed that 14 lives had been lost.

Meanwhile, the Kenya Red Cross has revealed that 19 cases of missing persons remain unresolved.

Thursday, January 17, 2019- Deputy President William Ruto was among a host of leaders who visited survivors of the Riverside terror attack on Wednesday evening.

The DP condemned the barbaric act and heaped praise on security officers and medical staff for swift response.

On the same breath, Ruto maintained that the attack will not break the spirit of Kenyans.

“We will go back to business as a country to run the affairs of our nation,” said Dr Ruto.

He also sent messages of condolences to the families of 21 people who lost their lives in the Dusit Hotel terror attack.

“Deep condolences to families that lost their loved ones in the cowardly, dastardly attack at the 14 Riverside Complex.

"Quick recovery to the injured. We commend the swift action of police and emergency services that saved many lives. Their bravery and selflessness was exemplary,” said Ruto.

Thursday January 17, 2019-The Government of President Uhuru Kenyattahas directed recruitment agencies to pay Kshs1.5 million as a security deposit for every Kenyan citizen hired in Saudi Arabia.

This was announced by Labour Cabinet Secretary, Ukur Yatani, who was speaking at the Ministry headquarters after signing a deal with top Saudi Arabia Government officials.

Speaking after the signing of the agreement, Yatani said the decision will guarantee the safety of Kenyans nationals working in the Middle East country.

This comes even a Government continued to vet the agencies to safeguard the workers aboard.

So far, only 100 agencies made it through the vetting.

"We already have 20,000 people working in Saudi Arabia and believe more than 100,000 will be employed in a few years to come now that we guarantee safety," he announced.

Many stories have emerged about Kenyans being mistreated in Saudi Arabia and the money is meant to stop all that mistreatment.

Thursday January 17, 2019- The Somalia- based militant group, Al Shabaab, has finally revealed why four Mujahideens attacked a hotel in Kenya killing 21 civilians and injuring hundreds.

On Tuesday afternoon, four Jihadists, who were armed with AK 47s and grenades attacked DusitD2 hotel in Nairobi which host offices for a number of expatriates and international companies.

Situated on 14 Riverside Drive, DusitD2 is perhaps one of the few hotels in Nairobi that share neighbourhoods with three Western embassies — Australian, Dutch and German — making it a popular haunt for Western diplomats and affluent Kenyans.

But on Tuesday, the jihadists turned the hotel complex into a killing zone where they slaughtered 21 and injured hundreds.

Though the four jihadists were finally eliminated by Kenya’s security officers, Al Shabaab in a statement on Thursday said the attack was meant to send a message to America.

Al-Shabaab noted the attack was in line with the guidelines of Sheikh Ayman Adh-Dhawahiri in targeting western and Zionist interests globally.

“The Mujahideen carried out this operation, codenamed 'Jerusalem will never be Judaized', in accordance with the guidelines of Sheikh Ayman Adh-Dhawahiri in targeting western and Zionist interests worldwide and in support of our Muslim families in Palestine,"read part of the statement.

The Somali based ragtag further claimed Nairobi attack was in reaction to America's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital city and also what it termed as systematic prosecution of Muslims in Palestine.

“This operation is a response to the witless remarks of US President Donald Trump, and his declaration of Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of Israel,”

Thursday January 17, 2019-A Jubilee politician yesterday collapsed at Kisumu Central Police Station, few hours after being arrested for causing chaos and disorderliness.

Magwagwa MCA, Mr. Fred Omayio, had been arrested by authorities from Pine Hotel where he had disrupted a meeting attended by his colleagues.

"I am not in Kisumu but I am told he came when drunk and started causing chaos.”

“He was raising the issue of allowances and asking my whereabouts yet I am not a member of the committee," Speaker Moffat Teya confirmed.

Omayio reportedly broke glasses and plates at Pine Hotel prompting the security to intervene. He was kicked out before being arrested by Flying Squad officers.

Sergeant-at-Arms Mr. George Angwenyi said the MCA collapsed in Kisumu Central Police shortly after the arrest and was rushed to the Aga Khan Hospital where he is recuperating.

"I can confirm he collapsed and was taken to Aga Khan on Wednesday evening.”

“The Hotel management want him to be charged for causing disorderliness," he said.

Thursday January 17, 2019-Chief Justice, David Maraga, has received a lot of backlash from Kenyans after he sent a message of condolences to Kenyans who were killed during the Tuesday’s afternoon terrorist attack at DusitD2 Hotel.

During the attack which was carried by Al Shabaab militants, over 21 people were killed and dozens injured as terrorists took control of the hotel.

However the four cowards were finally eliminated by Kenya Security forces in an 18 hour operation that ended on Wednesday morning.

After the end of the operation, Maraga took to social media and sent condolences to those who were killed during the shocking incident.

“I join Kenyans in condemning attack at the Riverside Business Park yesterday (Tuesday). My heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones, and quick recovery to the injured. I thank our security forces and all others who helped contain the situation. God bless Kenya," the CJ tweeted.

But immediately, Kenyans stormed the social media telling Maraga off over his condolences.

KOT reminded Maraga about the controversial release of a terror suspect a day to the Dusit Hotel complex attack that left 21 dead and 28 others admitted in hospital with various degrees of injuries.

“One of the four people charged with carrying out a terror attack on Narobi’s Westgate Mall in September 2013 was freed for lack of evidence,” Justin Muriuki wrote.

“What you need to walk away with terrorism, murder or economic crimes in Kenya: 1. Money 2. I said money 3. More money 4. Connected lawyer 5. Don't forget money 6. Corrupt judge 7. More money of course#JudiciaryAidingTerrorism,” Samson Mwangi wrote.

On Monday, Nairobi Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi released Adan Dheg, one of the 2013 Westgate mall terror suspects, citing lack of evidence against the accused.

DEPRESSION AMONG MEN IS ON THE RISE

Sometime last year, a man I know bade his friends’ bye after having several drinks and went home. The following morning, his lifeless body was found dangling on the grills of the stairwell of the apartment which he lived in with his wife, in Umoja.

Rumor mills had it that he went home, found his wife and two guys who were her friends and a commotion ensued. He was thrown off from the fourth floor and hit his head on the grills to his death.

The second week of December, another guy I know left home for work. He didn't go back home. To this day, the family is still looking for him. No one knows where he went or what happened to him. I was talking to his wife and she told me that she just wished she knew where he was. At least it'd calm her Spirit down.

Same December, a friend told me about a friend of his who has been excessively drinking. His girlfriend, who he has built a house in Kitengela is moving around with another guy. He knows it and he can do nothing about it. So he drinks it away. He drinks the pain away. He's an upwardly mobile guy with a lot of cash.

At a rendezvous with my friend, after a night of taking alcohol excessively, when he drove my friend to pick a bus in town, as he was returning to his place, he hit a matatu from behind and his car was almost being a write-off.

The husband of a prominent civil servant and scholar is reported to have jumped to his death from the sixth floor of a Nyeri hotel. Nothing much is known about what led him to take such a drastic cause of action. He was a distinguished scholar and researcher and lectured statistics at USIU.

We may never understand this but the rate at which men are committing suicide in this country has reached epidemic levels. Tough economic times. Pressures from relationships and family life. Mistakes. Shame. Lack of places to vent out and shoulders to lean on. A place we can feel at home.

We are dying and no one is even bothered. Men are sinking and those that should be holding them down make them feel that they are one mistake or failure away from being booted. It's saddening. We see it everyday. I don't wish to minimize the pressures that women go through or make this about men versus women, but one thing most people haven't come to really realize is that it's hard to be a man.

The Church has kept hushed tones on depression among men. The society is unforgiving of a man that fails. Women victimize men who aren't making enough and contemptuously dismiss them as failures. Which by the way is ludicrous because those at the top who have everything "under control" are a minority and can't be taken to be the SI unit to us all.

Most a man is struggling with something. If it's not financial situations, then it's sexual dysfunctions. If it's not that, then sexual perversion. If it's not that, then alcohol addiction or drug abuse. Or loneliness. If not those things, then they have a convoluted way of taking spirituality which has led them to sit piously high above and pontificate on the rest of us.

But I say this, let no one lie to you. The man sitting on the front of the Church bearing the title of an elder is just encumbered with as many issues as the one seated on the barstool taking liquor. We are affected by the same stimuli. We are confronted by the same set of challenges. Differently and uniquely but challenges nonetheless.

What I find to be amusing is the fact that we dismiss each other as men. We look down on one another. We tell bad things about each other and disparagingly walk out of one another. As soon as some men sense some struggle in their fellow brother, then they are gone. They won't get anywhere near them. When the heat mounts and the challenges overwhelm, when the walls close in on us, we fall into depression and do the unthinkable.

I keep hoping and wishing that we don't abandon each other. That we sit tight and listen keenly, without judging, to whatever challenges our fellow brothers are faced with and where we can, as long as we can, assist them with utmost understanding. That's not weak. That's strength. This notion of looking at where we are struggling then interfering in each other's marriages and relationships by giving other men's wives or girls what they cannot afford at the moment shouldn't be.

Like when Lazarus was called by Jesus from the grave and he came out wrapped up in grave clothes, leaping and stinking of the dead, let us learn to not run away from one another. When Lazarus came out, Jesus ordered those around the graveside to "loose him and let him go!" The same call is extended to all of us today. Men, women and children.

Our daddies are coming out of their graves of failures, alcoholism and affairs. Our sons are getting out of their graves of drug addiction and sexual perversion. Our grandsons are coming out of their graves of mistakes and indifference. They are looking for open arms to embrace them. They are looking for nimble fingers to untie the stinking grave clothes of their nightmarish former lives, depression and deceit and accommodate them in our homes. Shall we rise to that calling?

Thursday January 17, 2019 - Director of Criminal Investigations, George Kinoti, has asked Kenyans to provide information of the five terrorists who attacked DusitD2 Hotel, killing 21 people and injuring dozens.

Although the five terrorists were butchered like dogs by Kenya's security forces, Kinoti said he needs information to arrest all those who planned the attack that killed innocent Kenyans.

“We are appealing to anyone with any kind of information that may help in the investigations to report in confidence," DCI said on Thursday.

He said the information should be reported at the DCI headquarters or at any police station.

People can also call the National Police Service emergency hotlines - 999, 112 and 911.

He also said police are hunting down more suspects who financed, facilitated and harboured terrorists who staged the attack.

Meanwhile, police have arrested two suspects in Two Rivers Mall in connection with the Dusit D2 attack

The suspects allegedly ran a jewelry shop (Taj Jewelers) at the mall.

Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) arrested the owner of the shop, who has been taken in for questioning.

He might be a member of the dreaded Al Shabaab terror group or a sympathizer of their deadly attacks.

After the recent Dusit terror attack that left over 20 people dead and scores injured, he took to social media and celebrated the deadly attack.

He posted photos of Al Shabaab terrorists waving their flag and alleged that revenge is sweet.

DCI should swing into action and arrest this bastard.

Thursday January 17, 2019 – Somalia’s militant group, Al Shabaab, claimed responsibility for the attack on Dusit office and hotel complex that claimed the lives of 21 people and hundreds injured.

The attack that happened on Tuesday afternoon was carried out by five Jihadists who were later killed by Kenya’s Special Forces on Wednesday night.

According to an Al Jazeera informer, Harun Maruf, the five were part of Al Shabaab’s military wing “Jaysh Ayman” which is assigned with the duty of attacking Kenya.

In a statement on Thursday, the militants claimed that they carried out the attack in Nairobi in response to US President Donald Trump's decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The ragtag group further claimed that the five Mujahideens accomplished their mission by killing over 50 Kenyans.

But according to official statistics, it is only 21 people who were killed by the militants.
