Saturday, the 26th of January 2013 - Prime Minister Raila Odinga has today rejected President Mwai Kibaki’s top appointments for the police force, two of whom would serve as deputies for Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo.
The appointments Raila has rejected are those of Grace Kaindi whose name had been put forward to serve as Deputy Inspector General for Regular Police and Samuel Arachi who would deputise Kimaiyo on the Administration Police front.
The other appointment that Raila refused to agree with is that of Ndegwa Muhoro to head the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Raila says that the three still have ‘unresolved questions’ about their integrity and he therefore cannot, in good conscience, approve of their appointments.
