Tuesday 5th March 2013 – Supporters of a Jomvu parliamentary aspirant on a URP ticket at the weekend attacked him after he declined to give them their pay as agreed.
It is said that John Musa Kilonzo had just finished a door-to-door campaign in Kibarani when supporters who were accompanying him demanded pay. The aspirant is alleged to have refused to give them their share.
Angered by this, the supporters attacked him going away with his phone and cash amounting to Sh 100,000
While confirming the incident, Changamwe police boss Otieno Awuor said that Kilonzo was not injured in the incident and had not requested for security from police. He added that the aspirant had not notified the police of his campaigns and so the attack was treated as a deal gone sour and not robbery.
Kilonzo could not be reached for comment as his phone was stolen. He recorded a statement at Changamwe Police Station.
