Tuesday 2nd April 2013 - A 17 year old boy was electrocuted on Monday at Kitale Ndogo estate in Kitale municipality.
Daniel Wanyama, a class six pupil at Kitale Ndogo primary school, died on the spot after he allegedly touched a live wire connected to a transformer.
Confirming the incident, Kitale OCPD James Mitugo said that the boy was on his way home for lunch when he met his death. Mitugo added that the wire had been hanging for many weeks threatening the lives of area residents.
He noted that many lives had been lost in the same way and urged Kenya Power and Lighting Company to intervene and repair the fault before more lives are lost.
Area residents expressed their fear as the hanging wire could turn out to be more dangerous especially during the ongoing rain season.
The body of the deceased was taken to Kitale District Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.
