Saturday, August 04, 2012 - Two suspected robbers were yesterday lynched by a mob of irate residents who were angered by the fact that the robbers steal from them yet no action is taken by police in the area.
According to eye witnesses, the two robbers were among a gang of 6 that attacked a shop keeper in the area on Thursday night and managed to escape with one of them having a deep wound on his ear.
The gang split but two of them hid in the town’s proximity. Benson Mugambi together with other residents followed a trail of blood that started at the scene of the robbery to a rental building in the area where two were hiding.
Residents beat the two with crude weapons to death. Police in the area were alerted of the incident but arrived too late. They took the bodies to Embu District Hospital mortuary.
Mugambi told the media that the gang attacked him in his shop but only managed to steal Sh. 1,600.
